Steps to follow:

  • Copy the bioclipse release to a server with e.g. Apache. Unzip it, rename to a suitable folder name with version (e.g. 2.0, 2.0beta6 etc)
> cd /var/www/bioclipse/help
> mkdir 2.2
> cd 2.2
> unzip /tmp/release.zip
  • run the infocenter using a command like:
> /var/www/bioclipse/help/2.2
> /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/bin/java -classpath \
  /opt/help/bioclipse/2.2/bioclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.help.base_3.4.0.v200909170800.jar \
  org.eclipse.help.standalone.Infocenter -command start -port 8084 -noexec
  • create a folder for HTML redirecting in e.g. /var/www/bioclipse/help
> cd /var/www/bioclipse/help
> mkdir 2.2
> cd 2.2
> nano index.html

With the content:

<html>
 <head>
  <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=http://pele.farmbio.uu.se/bioclipse/proxy/2.2/index.jsp"/>
 </head>
 <body></body>
</html>
  • Configure Apache httpd.conf to forward to the running instance

Make sure the file /etc/apache2/mods-available/proxy.conf contains this section:

       <Proxy /bioclipse/proxy/2.2>
               RewriteEngine On
               Allow from all
               ProxyPass        http://localhost:8084/help
               ProxyPassReverse http://localhost:8084/help
       </Proxy>
